We got this assignment to create a DVD cover/package for a collection of 7 short films. Alle films are produced by the company Original Film, and the idea for a title was "7 korte originale", "7 short originals".

The obvious discussion started early in the process: which film gets to have the front cover. I argued that the best photo should win, the producers wanted the best film to be used and each director wanted their own film as "headliner".

I was not very eager to put each of all seven films on the cover until we found this workaround: let´s create a scale with measurement of the length of each movie in minutes/seconds. It plays along with the title "7 short originals" but also gives an immediate visual idea of the content. It adds this function to the design, you will know at once how short each of them are.

The scale/length bars was further applied in a circular shape on the actual DVD, if I had more time, I think I would play more with this circular version in the booklet and maybe even on the cover/back. Maybe next time, then.
